Students will spend two terms studying Physics (with Mr. Blumberg) and two terms studying Chemistry (with Mrs. Zomboracz). The two course grades are independent of each other. Materials: Your textbook (Holt: Physical Science), a spiral-bound or loose-leaf notebook, a folder, a scientific calculator, writing utensils, your MCHS handbook, etc. Homework, Quizzes, & Tests: I would strongly advise that you consider your commitment to homework If your goal is to simply finish homework assignments, your quiz and test scores will suffer. To benefit from homework assignments, students will need to use critical thinking skills and extensive problem-solving skills to understand concepts and problems not just complete them. Expect one quiz per section and one test per unit/chapter. Quizzes and tests will be announced. Assessments will generally include multiple choice questions and word problems. Make-up & Late Work: You are responsible to get information and materials that you have missed. Absentee work will be placed in the labeled bins under the pig. Late work will not be accepted. If you must miss class for a school-sponsored event, all assignments and work must be picked up and/or turned in the day of the absence. Tardy policy: 1st Tardy Warning 2nd Tardy 15-minute detention (Room 119) 3rd Tardy 30-minute detention (Room 119) 4th Tardy One week of Cafeteria Restriction 5th Tardy 2-hour Saturday Detention + Caf Restriction 6th Tardy 4-hour Saturday Detention 7th Tardy Warning that 8th Tardy will Please be aware: Tardies are considered cumulative throughout the length of the class. Students are expected to be in their seats, with all course materials, ready to begin the days class or will be marked tardy. Grades: I will use a total points system to determine your grade. Points will come from tests, quizzes, labs, homework, in-class assignments, individual projects, etc. Your final grade will be determined by your semester grade (85%) and final exam (15%). Units Covered: Ch. 11 - Motion Ch. 12 Forces Ch. 13 Work and Energy Ch. 14 Heat and Temperature Ch. 15 Waves Ch. 16 Sound and Light Ch. 17 Electricity Ch. 18 Magnetism *Physics is not the easiest subject to learn in fact, it is one of the most difficult. It requires you to use extensive problem-solving skills I say that NOT to scare you out of my classroom, but to warn you that you are going to have to put forth a great deal of time and effort (and even that does not guarantee you an "A"). However, the rewards gained from establishing a knowledge base in physics will justify your struggles and tiring efforts. Contrary to what you probably think, physics is fun and I will do my part to make it fun and exciting. Good luck and I hope for a great semester! YOU can LEARN more than your TEACHERS can TEACH! I think physicists are the Peter Pans of the human race They never grow up and they keep their curiosity. Physics is imagination in a straight jacket. - John Moffat Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure SCIENCE. - Edwin Hubble 1<ijR W @ J Ƹưqi`iTihP hD[>*OJQJhP 6OJQJhD[OJQJh3hD[5CJOJQJh3hP 5CJOJQJhP hP OJQJh$7kOJQJh3ZOJQJhP OJQJh3OJQJh3ZhP 5CJOJQJhP 5OJQJ%jhD[5OJQJUmHnHuhD[5OJQJh35OJQJ hD[CJ hP CJ1ikx 0^`gdGO5` ` ~ 24`b 79FGԴwnnnnnnnnah3ZhGO5CJOJQJhGO5H*OJQJhQhGO5>*OJQJhGO5>*OJQJhGO5OJQJhGO56OJQJh3hGO55CJOJQJhGO55OJQJh3hGO5CJOJQJh3OJQJhwIh3ZOJQJh3ZOJQJh3hD[5CJOJQJhD[5OJQJh3hD[CJOJQJ&^FG&(%&()89IK[\uv`gdGO5G(&')9IJGHIz{"#$ҾҾҴ{rdrXhQhGO55OJQJhQhGO55CJ OJQJhGO55OJQJhP hGO55OJQJhGO5hP hGO55CJOJQJ"jhGO5OJQJUmHnHuhGO5>*OJQJhGO5CJOJQJ&jhGO5CJOJQJUmHnHuhGO5CJOJQJ%jhGO55OJQJUmHnHuhGO55OJQJhGO5OJQJFGIz{#$$a$gdGO5$a$gdGO5$hGO5OJQJhGO5hP hGO55CJOJQJ/ =!"#$%|,, b yg(,,(d'`666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~ OJPJQJ_HmH nH sH tH <`< NormalCJ_HmH sH tH D@D Heading 1$@&5CJOJQJDA`D Default Paragraph FontViV 0 Table Normal :V 44 la (k ( 0No List 0U0 Hyperlink>*B*PK![Content_Types].xmlj0 u$Nwc$ans@8JbVKS(.Y$8MVgLYS]"(U֎_o[gv; f>KH|;\XV!]օ Oȥsh]Hg3߶PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!\theme/theme/theme1.xmlYOoE#F{o'NDuر i-q;N3' G$$DAč*iEP~wq4;{o?g^;N:$BR64Mvsi-@R4Œ mUb V*XX! cyg$w.Q "@oWL8*Bycjđ0蠦r,[LC9VbX*x_yuoBL͐u_.
