Mathletes place 2nd at Regional Contest
Seventeen members advanced to State
The Morris Community High School Mathletes continued their successful season by earning a second place finish at the ICTM Regional Math Contest on February 21st.
The following teams finished in first place:
The Algebra I Team of Chip Copley, Paul Kolotka, and Blake Wilhelmsen.
The Freshman-Sophomore Two-Person Team of William DelToro and Chris Gallick.
The Freshman-Sophomore 8-Person Team of William DelToro, Chris Gallick, Ryley Steele, Taylor Wolfer, Paul Kolotka, Kevin Wendling, and Blake Wilhelmsen.
The Junior-Senior 8-Person Team of Erin Baum, Jennifer Martino, Amanda Robbins, Ryan Wendling, Ali Chatten, David Mantey, Arianna Pempe, and Kelsey Schluntz.
Additionally, Arianna Pempe earned first place in Algebra II, and William DelToro and Katelyn Mantey tied for second place in Geometry.
Based on their performance, these seventeen students have advanced to the state finals, which will take place at the University of Illinois on May 2nd.

The Geometry Team of William DelToro, Chris Gallick, Kyle Jorstad, Katelyn Mantey, Taylor Wolfer, and Tom Woodard.
The Algebra II Team of Tamra Kren, David Mantey, Joel McVey, Arianna Pempe, Kelsey Schluntz, and Kelly Schwantner.
The Pre-Calculus Team of Jack Allen, Erin Baum, Jennifer Martino, Amanda Robbins, Ryan Wendling, and Eric Yard.
The Oral Competition Team of Erin Baum and Jennifer Martino.
The Mathletes are coached by Mr. Vahle, Mrs. Shannon, and Mr. Ortiz.
