Rooks awarded Prix du Chapitre
Mary Rooks, French/Spanish teacher at MCHS, was recently notified that she has been awarded the Prix du Chapitre of the Chicago/Northern Illinois Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French. Criteria for this award include: classroom teaching, curriculum development, professional commitment, community involvement and participation in AATF activities. AATF was founded in 1927 and is the largest national association of French teachers in the world with nearly 10,000 members. There are 74 chapters located across the U.S. The mission of the organization is to promote the study of languages in general and French in particular; to facilitate the implementation of national and state standards in the classroom; to improve the training of French teachers; to create opportunities for teachers to update their skills and improve their teaching and to encourage the use of new technologies in the teaching of French.
