Speech Team = Regional Champions
The Morris Community High School Redskin Speech Team took 1st place at the IHSA 2012 Regional at Bradley-Bourbonnais High School. The Redskins took 1st place with 60 points. Bradley-Bourbonnais was in second place with 56 points. Rounding out the top three were Coal City with 56 points, Reed-Custer High School in fourth place with 50 points and Seneca in fifth place with 27 points. The Redskins broke into final rounds in all categories and all students are advancing to next weekend’s Sectional competition.
The following students placed in the top 4 and will continue onto Sectionals.

2nd place: Joseph Leasure and Madison Rodgers in Dramatic Duet Acting
Josh Hosek and Jacob O’Marrah in Humorous Duet Acting

Madison Rodgers in Prose Reading
3rd place: Kayla Haupt in Dramatic Interpretation
Mary Wolverton in Humorous Interpretation
Jaymee Cole in Impromptu Speaking
Jessie Eastman in Oratorical Declamation
Alyssa Rogers in Prose Reading
4th place: Kade Bashor in Extemporaneous Speaking
Jacob O’Marrah in Informative Speaking
The Morris Performance in the Round team also advanced to Sectionals with a second place finish. The team is comprised of 17 students doing a fifteen minute short play presentation.
The MCHS Speech Team is coached by MCHS teacher Andrea Gustafson. Assistant coaches are Curt Forbes and David Tabler. Team captains are Lauren Galloway, Joseph Leasure, Brooke Smith, and Blake Wilhelmsen. Junior captains are Kade Bashor and Madison Rodgers.
The MCHS Speech Team next travels to Stanford-Olympia High School for the IHSA Sectional on February 11th.
